Mogadishu (HOL) -Somali government forces backed by local clan militia forces recaptured Adadey village in the Middle Shabelle region after al Shabaab militants withdrew from the town on Thursday.

General Ahmed Mohamed Alasoow Tareedishe, the supervisor of the forces, told media that the capture of the village would make it easier for the joint forces to retake Runnirgood town, which has been under the control of al Shabaab for several years.

Working with local militias, the Somali National Army has freed scores of villages in central Somalia from al-Shabab control in recent months.

Speaking at the opening of Somalia’s second session of parliament Tuesday, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud vowed to continue what he’s called an “all-out war” against terrorism.

Mohamud said Somalia enjoyed victories in the recent offensives against the Islamist militant group al-Shabab.
